The other day the kids didn't take a very good nap... and it looked like the noise was really getting to my parents. The weather wasn't real warm, but it was definitely warm enough to go outside, so that's what we did! Gaetan went to a coffee shop to do some studying so I told the kids that if they stayed in a particular area then we could go play... there wasn't any way I was going to be able to chase them around! So, we started off on the deck where they literally ran cycles for quite some time. After they had worn that out they started to play with the little bikes that were outside. They would push each other, run into things, and ride them in circles too... just the idea of being outside was wonderful for them! It looked like they were starting to get bored so we got some chalk and started to do 'art' on the deck. Dude was more about it than Lu, and he mainly wrote a bunch of words down. He is really good at spelling things that aren't spelled the same way they are pronounced. Are we surprised? Of course not. :)
We got a basket out and they threw a ball in there off the deck and thought that was a fun game for awhile. And these were all great because it kept them in an area that I could watch them, but still let them run around! Eventually the same area started getting a little boring for them, so I told them that they could run up and down the hill. And to us, doesn't sound that great, but they were loving it. Lucy thought it was really fun to run down the hill backwards... Dude eventually noticed that there a bunch of pine cones and wanted to start collecting them so that's what they started to do. They put them in the basket after they would grab them (one at a time) from the top of the hill. It was getting tired just watching them run around, but this is what they needed to do... burn some energy while giving Mom and Dad some peace and quiet. :)

Helping Dad trim things down for the summer! |
Eventually Gaetan got home so their range of exploring expanded greatly and we got the soccer ball out and the whipple ball. Dude was doing a really good job with hitting the ball... both right and left handed! haha. It had been awhile since I was outside and I was feeling the effects of walking around and being on my feet for so long, so I ended up going in. But, Dad had some gardening things to do so Tristan was more than happy to help him with that! After that 'job' was done they got out the bubbles and went to town with those.
It was a bit of a hodge podge of activities but they loved it and I was happy to get out in the fresh air. Even just standing around outside was refreshing to me... we are getting closer and closer to being able to play and run, just not yet :)
