The out-laws visit overview

So, ever since the 'big talk' with Wilfreda, we've had three visits with the out-laws.  And, I'd have to say, that we got visited by Ingrid instead of Wilfreda.  This is normally how things go after we have a big talk with her.  She's relatively good for the next couple of visits, and then she's back to her same ole same ole, but I'm hoping that this time is different!

The next time she came over was the next day from the 'talk'.  We were gonna go to the zoo with Oma Oma but it was going to be bad weather the entire day so we just hung out here instead, which was really nice.  After we had the talk with her all she said was that she wanted the visit to be nice and it not to be awkward.  And the thing I think she doesn't understand is that we weren't going to hold this over her head and we werent' mad.  As soon as we said what we had to, that was pretty much that... and I know that's not how she operates, so she didn't understand it.  But the visit was good.  Oma Oma was really impressed with the kiddos at how bright they are and how much they pick up on.  :)

The next visit was a quick one.  It was as they were driving through to drop Zoe off at Chicago.  Zoe wanted to see the kids before she left one more time, and wanted to give Dude his present.  So, they stopped by and did just that!  It was the Monday of Gaetan's qualifier, so he wasn't here, but the visit went really well.  Dude got a train from Mike's Mom, some fun cooking things from Karl Jan, a book from Zoe and Ingrid brought some of Gaetan's old dinosaurs.  This was the first time that I met Karl Jan, who is their cousin.  He lives in Belgium and was just visiting the states, so that was really cool that I got to meet him!  We had some left over birthday cake and coffee before they had to hit the road.  :)

The last visit was with Oma Oma, Karl Jan and Ingrid.  They just came to hang out and see the kids some more.  She ended up wearing a see through shirt... and she didn't know that it was!  We went to Crow's Nest for brunch (double yum!) and then the kids went down for a nap, so Gaetan ran around with his family while we rested.  It was the type of visits that we think are successful and nice.  Hanging out, talking, playing and nothing high maintenance.  It seemed like they had a good time too just catching up.  I scored and got some maturnity shirts :) And the kids got some shoes.  Whoo hoo!

I think that Oma Oma and Karl Jan have flown back to Belgium and I'm really glad we got to see them a handful of times while they were here.  :)  And even as uncomfortable as it was to have that conversation I'm glad that we did, because that made all the visits we had way more enjoyable!
