My Dad just started a new schedule which, thankfully for him starts later in the day! Poor man used to get up around 2 or 3 every morning so that he could be home for dinner when we were little, and he just kind of stuck to that schedule ever since. But, now since we're all grown up he doesn't need to wake up at that horrible hour! So, this way he can have his mornings with Mom, and he's still home before it gets to late at night. Win win.
This schedule he has has him drive by our place on 131. And since we live pretty close to the highway we can see the highway from Lucy's window. My Dad called last Friday and said that he was going to be driving by if Tristan wanted to see him. We waited for Dad to drive by in his truck and when he went by he hocked his big horn! Tristan thought it was AMAZING. He jumped up and down and was so excited. He jumped off the toy box and said, "Hooray! Yeah!" It was adorable. We took a video of dad driving by, and of Dude telling us what was on the side of his truck. :)
Afterward he went running downstairs and waited by the window because he thought that he was coming over. I had to explain to him that Don was bringing food to the 'cookie' store so that people could buy them later. He seemed to understand that.
The nice thing is every Friday we will be able to see Grandpa Don drive by our place and we can wave :) It may sound silly but I know that Dad really enjoyed hearing Tristan being so excited and I know that Tristan loved watching him drive by. It's the small things in life right? :)
