The other day I was sorting/putting laundry away and the kids thought that they would 'help'. And by help, I mean they put their pals in their laundry hampers I was trying to sort clothes in and raced around the place with them. It was adorable really. I was sad I couldn't get a video or some pictures of them doing it. They were being extra strength silly but they were having such a good time who am I to stop their imagination?
Then, after awhile Dude came up and asked why his pals would tip over if he started pushing the hamper really quickly or turned a sharp corner. So, with the best of my ability I tried to explain to him about inertia and momentum, because those where the first things that popped into my head for an explanation. I gave him a very run down version of what I thought he needed to know... and after the confused look that never left his face I just told him he should ask Papa when he gets home. So he did.

This was the closest thing I could get to them doing it, but it wasn't nearly as epic. |
Gaetan gave this very eloquent explanation about inertia and friction and I thought that it was the best way anyone was going to explain such a thing to a 3 year old. He nodded through the explanation and even asked a few questions. Then, at the end of the talk Gaetan asked him if he understand and Tristan just smiled, grabbed his pals and said, "nope." It was pretty funny.
