Dad visit

This past Tuesday we were graced with my Dad's presence for dinner!  :)  My Mom had headed up north to hang out with a good high school friend for a couple of days, and let's face it, she earned a little vacation!  So, I thought that it would be nice for my sister and her family to have some alone time together, so I invited my Dad down for dinner.  I know we see them all the time, but it was nice having him over to our place.  So he could see how things run at our house and what the kids do when they're home.

I asked him what he wanted for dinner... thinking he would pick something that was full of garlic and onion, since my Mom wasn't around ;)  But he wanted chili dogs... Easy enough.  The man is easy to please!  So, I figured since it was such an easy meal I would make some home made potato salad... his favorite recipe.  My mom made me a cookbook of some recipes when I graduated and this one has Dad's favorite potato salad.  HE LOVED IT.  He just kept raving on how good everything was... which, I can't think that chili dogs are that exciting, but he says since he never gets them it was hitting the spot.  So, I'm glad that he was happy with the meal!  Then, of course, we had dessert.  I wouldn't dream of having my Dad over for dinner without dessert :)

After dinner Tristan was so excited to show Dad his new room.  So, we went upstairs and played for awhile and the kids just loved having Dad here.  It was nice and quiet and I know that he appreciate that as well.  I know he loves having his other grandkids around all the time, but its just a lot of commotion they're not used too, and it gets tiring after awhile.  So, he stayed until the kids were pretty much falling over from exhaustion and then headed home.

It's so great being able to have him over and see them so regularly.  I know the kids love it, and I think that my parents are good influences for them.  It's a blessing to have good family.  :)
