As you all know Saturday is known around these parts as pizza and beer night at Grandma and Don's. For us it's just a great time to hang out with my parents, eat some pizza and let the kids go wild in the open space. :) There's nothing lavish or extravagant about it, but just pure hanging out time. I think my sister always thought that we spent to much time over there because in her mind we must be doing something exciting every time we went there... which isn't really the case. I mean, it's exciting for the kids because they like Grandma and Don's house, but we don't do anything over the top.
The nice thing now that Holly and her family live there, for a short while longer, is that they see we don't do anything over the top. Their excuse for never coming over was because they didn't want their kids to think that Grandma and Don's place was magical and get special treatment when they're there. I never understood why they thought that, but since they would never come over and just see they never could understand. I think that them living with my parents for a little while has been healthy for everybody. They are having a better relationship with the grandkids, and Holly and Josh see things differently than they did before.
It's always a lot more crazy whenever we go over there because there are many more people there, but I'm glad for them to have this chance to see what it's really like at my parents. I know that my sister really likes the jam out time they have after dinner... my dad usually gets his guitar out and my sister her mandolin. I've even seen them have a couple of beers! Whoa! :)
I'm glad that Josh got this really great job, but it's sad that they're moving far away. Especially when things are starting to seem like they are getting to a 'normal' functioning state. It's actually getting to be enjoyable to hang out with them because I don't feel like they're judging or making strange opinions about what we do and our decisions. It's nice. It's nice having a sister back.
On a different note, Tristan was never one to get bloody noses... sure he gets his head glued every couple of months but never a bloody nose. But poor Goose has fallen twice at my parents and gotten some pretty serious bloody noses! Strange. She's such a brute though after a few seconds she's just fine. I know that my parents are loving having all their grandkids together on the weekend. :) It's nice that they are finally able to have that.
