Last wedding of the year (I think!)

This past weekend was the last wedding I think I'm playing for the rest of the year!  At least, its the last wedding I have in the books for right now.  This one was for a girl I went to high school with... I wouldn't say that we were friends but obviously we were on good terms.  We just ran in different circles and did different activities.  She pretty much played all the sports I am terrible at (basketball, volleyball) and I would consider her one of the popular girls.  She's super nice though and I love her family, so it was something I looked forward to doing.

Friday at the rehearsal wasn't actually at the venue.  They weren't allowed to be there the night before so we rehearsed at the beach house they had rented for their bridal party, since the wedding was about 2 hours away.  The weather was beautiful and the beach house was really cool!  It was a nice idea to do that, so that way all the bridal party and their families or significant others had a place to stay.  The Mistress of Ceremonies had her crap together, which always makes my life easier.  Rehearsal ran smoothly, despite the fact that google maps gave me bad directions and I just made them up and got there luckily!

Beautiful place for a rehearsal!
They invited me to stay for dinner, and I was pretty hungry so I did.  She had a fairly large bridal party (seven!) and I knew a lot of them so it was nice to catch up with them.  The food that was catered was AMAZING.  They had it set up as kind of a tapas style thing and I was so full by the end it was hard for me to breath!  The menu:  (because you know how much food interests me!)

1.) Curry chicken and rice
2.) Steak and potato
3.) Seared Ahi Tuna lettuce wraps
4.) TO DIE for pork belly sliders
5.) Duck quesadillas
6.) Mushroom and onion bruschetta
7.) Sweet potato gnocchi in brown butter sauce

There was so much food left over I made Gaetan a to-go plate because the food was that good!  The traffic on the way home was TERRIBLE because they closed the TWO most left lanes and we all know how people like to ride up the lanes until the very last minute and then try to cut over.  But, I was finally home and happy to be so!

The actual wedding was great!  It was a little warmer than I thought it was going to be, and since it was outside at a vineyard it got a little sweaty... but everything was beautiful.  The music went really well, and everybody seemed to be very happy with how it went.  The wind was a bit of a challenge, and you can only do so much with paper clips, but we made it work.  Even, the special music that I had to play on went really well too!

I hope that their marriage lasts forever and ever. It's fun to play weddings and know that people still think I can play my instrument some. haha.
