Playdate BBQ

As a young family we don't really meet people with our similar situation.  Most people who have kids our age are a lot older, and well established, or a lot of our friends don't have kids yet.  So, when we find people who fit that criteria, young with kids we are pretty excited!  And when their kids aren't crazy brats and the parents are cool, we are even MORE excited.  :)

At church we found this couple who has a son who is 3 months older than Tristan, who's name is Kai and a daughter who is 2 months younger than Lucy, who's name is Sakura.  The Mom is Japanese and the Dad is white... so their kids are pretty stinkin' cute.  It's just so interesting how similar our kids are to each other.  Kai and Tristan LOVE the same things and have the same energy level where Sakura and Lucy are a force to be reckoned with.  Their mannerisms are so much like each other's it's almost like they're twins.  Craziness.  So, finally, after a few weeks of seeing them over and over again at church and having the kids play together there, we got together!  It was great!

Meet Sakura.  I am amazed at how light her hair is!

Meet Kai.
They invited us over for lunch after church one Sunday and it was a blast.  The funny thing is we have a lot of the same things they do... toys, furniture, ya know.  So it was funny to walk into their place and have everything seem pretty familiar.  Lucy and Sakura were having a blast together, which could've gone either way really.  I feel like when you have two personalities so similar they either love it, or can't stand each other.  They both LOVE food.  Kai and Tristan had a pretty good time playing trains together, which was good.  I know that it's hard for Tristan to understand sharing sometimes because he's the oldest and he does share with Lucy, but it's not the same when you have kids your own age, ya know?  But they did pretty well together.  Dude about lost it when he saw that they had the same bed, and Kai had a letter mat too.

Lucy and Sakura hanging out at the snack table... go figure.

The kiddos playing with this really cool train set.
It was nice hanging out with the parents who are younger like we are, and are pretty chill.  We stayed until both of our kids didn't seem like they were gonna last much longer.  We are hoping to hang out with them again soon and hopefully they can make it down to our place soon too!  :)
