Actual wedding

The next afternoon was the actual wedding!  I got hooked up in this wedding from my cellist friend who was the boss of an RA and that RA's boyfriends sister was getting married.  So I had no idea about any of these people, but it was OK.  Most weddings are like that, and really, it's kinda easier that way.  When I play for people I know, or are friends with, it's like the pressure is on because you don't want to suck.  If I suck for these people, I'll never see them again... ya know?

Well, the wedding was outside, which is ok.  It's not my first outside wedding so we were prepared... clothes pins for if it was windy (check) wearing no heels so you don't sink into the ground (check), music (check) instrument (check) but what did I forget?  My frickin stand!  Ugh!  So, I made do and everything worked out, but it was a bit of a pain in the butt.

The wedding was cute, but the officiator was ANNOYING.  I was really gonna slap her during the rehearsal, but whatever.  She was one of those old bitties that has probably been doing this for longer than I've been alive and she was so picky and stupid about everything.  She would be the reason why people stress out about their weddings.  And it turns out that the person that they wanted to do it couldn't do it in the last few days so they got stuck with her... ugh.

Well, the music was OK.  My cellist friend looked up for a moment during the ceremony and lost her place so that was interesting, but we recovered nicely.  And the hardest part about the music that the bride picked for the ceremony was that there wasn't any good stopping points if they walked a little faster, or we played a little slower than during the rehearsal.  So, we made do and nobody seemed to notice. :)   In fact, a lot of people came up to us afterwards and said how much they liked the music...

We stayed for a few appetizers afterwards as we waited to get paid and the theme of the wedding was very obvious lemon and yellow.  It was really cute.  They had homemade jams and butters as party favors which is a cool idea!  The one thing that I thought was a little strange was they had a bunch of different lemonade things out, but some of them were spiked... and they definitely weren't labeled.  That was a surprise!

There was a lady at our table that obviously had to much wine and started up a conversation with me and Katie (the cellist).  She couldn't believe that we weren't teenagers.  Really?  She asked what we did with our free time and Katie was saying what she did and I told her I stayed at home with my kids and I thought that she was going to fall out of her chair.  She wouldn't believe us that we would be old enough at all... She said that she was stretching it when she told us that she thought we were 22... flattering I think?

Overall, the wedding was good.  It was a lot of driving for the weekend and I was really happy to see the kids when I got back.  It was hard not seeing them all day!  Glad we got paid so well, so that was the only way I could see it worth being away for so long.  Although, I do have another wedding in about a week and a half that is a bit away too.  Wedding season isn't over yet people!
