The last little bit Dude has been telling us that he is afraid of things. Things that don't seem very practical to be scared of. I was thinking at first it was just because he didn't want to go to bed and that was his excuse but then he started saying that he was scared of things during the day.
Then, while at the library I saw this book that I read when I was in elementary school... Thunder Cake. Basically the book is about a girl who stays with her Babushka (Grandma) and is afraid of thunder. She hides under the bed, and to get her out from under the bed and to get over her fear of thunder her Babushka proposes she help make a Thunder Cake. During the process she has her do all these things that are much 'scarier' than thunder and at the end they get to enjoy their cake! The main character realizes that she is braver than she thought and gets over her irrational fear of a sound.
Dude, LOVED the book. And then, he loved the idea of being able to make the Thunder Cake because there is a recipe in the back. I was all about it because I was having a particularly hard day and cooking/baking always makes me feel better, so we set off to make Thunder Cake. :)
It turned out delicious! It was very light and fluffy and he was so excited about it. As soon as the timer went off he was jumping up and down about getting it out. He should be very proud of himself as he did most of the work. I pretty much just did the mixer and poured it into the cake pans. And I'm so excited that he wants to help out in the kitchen and know what I'm doing... its a lot of fun. Big Brave Chef T!
