This time he wanted to spell something with only lower case letters so we were searching through all the letters for a lower case d, but we couldn't find it. So one of the librarians came over, Quienn, asked him he wanted to be a big boy helper and you should've seen his face light up. He was so excited about the idea of helping and that it involved the letters. So, she explained to him that they needed to check to make sure what letters they had, and which one were missing so that they could replace them.
So, he went to work. The magnetic board is two sided so we started by separating all the lower case letters from the upper case, and the block font and the numbers. He was really good at sorting, and did it very quickly! Then, we went through each side and did the alphabet. He was a champ at finding everything. We went in order and he would tell me how many of each letter there was, or if there wasn't that letter at all. We wrote it all down, and then handed in our list when we were finished. He was SO pleased that he got to do something and that it was so letter intensive. He picked out a sticker for Lucy to have when he was all finished. :) I am so happy that he has such a willing attitude and wants to help with things. I was so proud of how efficient he was with the project and how little direction he needed to get it done. He was a machine and didn't want to stop til it was finished. There was even a point in there where he was getting squirmy and I asked him if he had to go to the bathroom and he told me no, because he thought that if he left the job unfinished he wasn't doing it right. I reassured him that it would still be there when he got back from the bathroom and he could finish it then. He took off a like a shot and was back to finishing the job within seconds it seemed like!
