That same weekend, after the Zoo Boo I had a wedding to play. I was playing it with my friend, Katie, with whom I've been playing weddings with since middle school. She was kind enough to go to the rehearsal since the kids had swim class on Friday night. It was an outdoor wedding that had a backup plan for indoors, which was good because it was raining cats and dogs for the ceremony. I have played in this particular park before so I knew that they had a pavilion option, so I didn't feel completely out of sorts from not being at the rehearsal. This was for a couple I had never met before, and getting their music selection was like pulling teeth. I had gotten their info about 1.5 months before their actual wedding, which, also, who waits that long to get their musicians? Anyhoo, they said they didn't know much about music so I gave them the general list of songs we play and had on hand... they didn't send me their list of music until a week before their wedding! What the heck? who does that? And half of the songs they wanted we didn't have, so we had to search the internet and buy some.
The actual wedding itself was interesting too. We moved everything inside last minute and there wasn't space for us. The fireplace was going and whoever started it didn't open the proper vents or whatever because all the smoke was blowing straight into the room... it was pretty bad. You could see the plumes of smoke... we stunk so badly once we left.
I have to say that I wasn't sad that this wedding was over. It was fun hanging out with Katie and playing together again :) and we wish them the best of luck on their journey together.
