Last week Gaetan was away from home a lot more than he normally is. Now, I know what a lot of you are thinking... Any amount of time really would make that statement true! But, this past week there was a researcher in town that had a lot to do with developing the code that they are using in his research, so they were spending as much time with him as possible. :)
Monday was a long day for me because I had all my Dr appointments in GR and then Gaetan had a meeting and colloquium with this guy, and then I had KPhil at night. I know it probably doesn't sound like a lot, but I was EXHAUSTED by the end of it. I was actually pretty tired just from the Dr's appointments but the day must go on!
Tuesday and Wednesday were his longer days on campus. It was like what a normal person works on a regular basis! It was crazy! I was so tired by the end of those days, it just made me count my blessings that my life isn't like that ALL the time. The kids and I had a lot of fun together, and it is amazing what you do when you have to do it. I surprised myself that I actually made some new stuff for dinner with the kids running around and the house didn't look like it was a disaster zone too much ;)
During the week and especially towards the end of the days I would get contractions... :( This is generally around the time that the previous two kiddos have tried to make their escape, and I think with the extra moving around and general 'stress' of chasing two little ones was hard on my body. And that makes me feel really lame, but, I just had to try and take it easy to make them stop! I could if I drank a ton of water, laid on my left side for a while and just relaxed... which also made me feel lame as the kids wanted to play or do something but I had to stay stationary. But, it was more important that the contractions stopped and we didn't have to make a trip to the hospital, as this week wasn't going to really allow for that extracurricular trip!
I do count my blessings that I get to have my wonderful husband home all the time... and I know that the kids really love it it. I could tell that they noticed he wasn't around as much, as they would ask for him more and more as the day went on. We are both very happy that the week is over, but happy with the results also! I guess they made great strides in understanding the molecule they chose for their research and are on their way to making things happen!
