Oma Oma Visit/Baz batizado

Gaetan's Grandma is in town for her annual visit from Belgium!  We really like Oma Oma and we really want to see her, but that also means that we have to see Ingrid.  It's been probably 4 months since the last time that we've seen her (which is great!).  And honestly, this is how it's going to have to be.  When we don't see her for long periods of time when we do see her she's on her best behavior.  Well, we were debating on whether we were going to go to Baz's batizado but I couldn't justify driving all that way for a few hours (at most) during the kids bed time.  So, we decided to meet up with Ingrid and Lieve during the day and then head over at night.

The visit went well.  Notice, I'm calling her Ingrid not Wilfreda.  We went to this play place to let the crazies run around... burn some energy after being in the car and then get them good and tired for the night.  This was also a way to keep the crazies and Ingrid's interaction at a minimum without it being noticeable/awkward.  The kids had a TON of fun.  They weren't so interested in the inflatable slides but they loved the jungle gym part.  AND it was really high!  I couldn't believe how fast those little monkeys were!  They played hard until they both said that they were hungry.  We asked them what they wanted to eat and of course they said, "sushi" but they settled for thai.  :)

The kids got some great presents from their cousins in Belgium.  We got some placemats with the the Flemmish words for Momma, Papa, big brother, big sister and little sister.  The traditional candy thing that they give when babies are born (Tristan and Lucy got them too), these really cute finger puppets that it looks like somebody knitted, animal dominoes and some smurfs.  Oma Oma brought Belgian chocolate and beer, of course, and other tasty treats!  They all got really cute PJ's too.  After dinner we went and had some coffee to talk about a few things and because we had time to kill before we had to leave for the batizado.

Lucy and Oma Oma hit it off big time.  Tristan liked reading books with her too.  It was endearing watching her with the crazies at the coffee house drinking their frozen hot chocolates and her with her coffee.  You could definitely see how she cares for children.  :)  On our way to the batizado we ran into the owners of said coffee shop and Gaetan got to catch up with them for a little bit, which was nice.  :)  It's nice meeting people who knew him when he was younger.

The batizado was great!  I love watching the performances that Baz has his students do.  :)  And its always nice to see guests from other states.  Gaetan, my super husband, took all the kids running around so that I could enjoy the batizado solo.  At one point though we thought that Norah needed to be fed so I left to feed her, but she had fallen asleep... so I took Lucy into watch with me because she was interested.  SHE. WAS. CAPTIVATED.  She loved the music, and she would clap.  She would cheer when people cheered and was on her best behavior.  She just sat in my lap the entire time looking all cute.  :)

The night had finally come to an end and we did get to see a few people.  It was nice to catch up real quick and show off our kids... because, let's be real, all those people just wanna see the fabulous kids in real life, not just via pictures on FB.  We had to get going because they were getting pretty tired, but it was a great day.  I love the long drive home with a quiet car, sleeping kiddos and chats with the husband.
