A Visit with Raeuf and Pegah

We got to have a visit with our good friend Raeuf and his wife Pegah.  They had moved into a new place so we went to check out their new place!  They moved into a place owned by Edward Rose so they were really excited about free heat in the summer.  :)  Raeuf amazes me.  Everytime we visit I get more and more of his back story and it truly is amazing.  I knew that he was a hard worker just from his work ethic while he was at CC but the obstacles he has overcome to get where he is now... inspiring.
We are always so well fed while we are there.

Their housewarming gift... I thought they turned out really nicely :)

He is currently finishing up his BS at MSU and is applying to med school... but he is doing so much good in the world.  He started a group that brings medical supplies to areas in need, and has won every award and scholarship under the sun.  He is just a good person.  I love his wife too... she is so sweet.  I don't think that Gaetan and I are very loud people, but she is so quiet that I feel like I'm shouting all the time!  And Lucy... she LOVES Pegah, and we all know that Lucy doesn't tolerate every one.

Dude wanted to show off his math skills
They totally get and understand the importance of sharing a meal together and just being.  They always feed us so well while we're there, and it's always authentic food from either Egypt or Iran (where Raeuf and Pegah are from).  Delicious. Comforting.  And you can tell how much love is put into it.  We always have such good conversations while we're there too.  This time Raeuf told me that I should blog about how to be a parent... I thought that it was very flattering.  He told us that being around us and our kids gives him hope for the future, and that raising respectful children in this era of technology and instant gratification is possible.  Rauef was around when I was pregnant with Tristan and came to visit after he was born, so he has been apart of our lives in the most real way.

Funny thing happened while we were there though... Dude had his first experience with a bidet.  He thought that he was flushing the toilet when really he was turning it on.  Needless to say he was soaked, but he thought it was hilarious.  We just heard a bunch of water spray, a squeal of surprise and laughter.  So we went in there and he was just laughing.  He then wanted to see what it did and turned it to high... it sprayed across their bathroom all the way to the ceiling!  Impressive.  haha.  We all had a good laugh about it.  Unfortunately this Momma forgot to pack extra clothes for him (I apparently had packed two outfits for Lucy... oops) so we had to go and get him some clothes.  No worries though, he enjoyed getting some more super hero swag.

We went for a walk around their complex and played a little soccer.  We then played Monopoly where Dude proceeded to dominate, even though I had the first monopoly and Gaetan had a monopoly on Boardwalk/Parkplace and the Baltics.  Figures... he would beat us.  And it was great practice for his math because then he would add the dice up for us and move the pieces.  :)  Always an opportunity to learn!

We eventually had to go home after a very long day.  I was excited to see them again, their new home and they got to meet Norah.  :)  Looking forward to seeing them again.  Most likely it will be at another semester break, but any time we get together is a blessing.
