Now that the weather has decided that it time to be gorgeous out we have been taking full advantage of being outside! One of the things that I love about where we live is the promoting of being outdoors. All the roads have a nice bike lane and they have beautiful trails and loads of playgrounds and parks for people to be at.
One of our favorites is the PCBP. This is the trail that I would run when I was training for my marathon, so I know it quite well. They have playgrounds at various spots along the trails so it breaks it up really nicely. This particular day we were graced with the presence of our friend Ashley! it was extra helpful to have an extra set of eyes watching our crazy kids in the midst of everyone else's children and who didn't want to be outside in that beautiful weather?! What I love about this community is that everybody is willing to help eachother out... especially when people have small children. For instance, I was helping Lucy do something when Dude got scared on a piece of equipment and this Mom just stepped over and helped him no sweat. I feel like in Grand Rapids the Mom would've just looked at Tristan and then looked at me with this impatient, "are you gonna hurry up and help your child who is holding up the line?" instead of helping. Just yesterday we were driving to the beach and there were two lanes coming together to one and we stopped to see what this lady in the next lane was going to do (so we didn't crash) and she gave us a dirty look as she slammed on her brakes and waved us on... even though we were already stopped... she looked so mad that we were making her 'wait.' Right.
Well, the kids played hard on the playground and then Gaetan got some pizza and they had a little picnic there while Ratty and I enjoyed some girl time over dinner. Norah got to come too of course :) While we were having our dinner Gaetan took them on a walk down the trails and those crazy kids made it about 5 miles! That's a long way. I don't even think that I can do that right now! but of course they got some crazy cute pictures and even saw a snake and some deer!

Goose was so tired after their walk she passed out on the floor... |

It was so hot they got to have a delightful drink at Panera! Yes, my 3 year old loves green iced tea |
I am so happy that they are enthusiastic about wanting to play outside instead of stay indoors and watch movies/play video games or something. Definitely will take them wanting to be outdoors any day!
