Beach day with Don and the cousins

My Dad took a week off of work while Holly and the kids were staying up here.  I know that she really wanted to go to the beach while they were here so we did!  My Dad pretty much jammed full their time together with fun activities, which I'm sure was great for her kids :)  Spending time with them isn't something they're used to, so when they get to the chance to they do it up!

We went to Saugatuk Sand Dune Park.  It's awesome.  My Dad really likes it because its never crowded... and it was great for their family because their kids are older and like to hike up the dunes and trails... it was a little harder for our kids because they are smaller and the hike to the beach was a little rough on them on the way back.  I was feeling pretty good about the trip because we had done the beach thing already with Norah so I felt confident that I could handle it again.  I even remembered to bring an umbrella so that if she wanted to sleep under it then I could be baby free for a little while and enjoy playing with the other two!

I honestly have to say that this was probably one of the most perfect days that Michigan was going to offer.  It was sunny and warm (but not blistering) and the water was wonderful.  It was so warm for being May and it definitely cooled you off when you got in, but not so cold that it shocked your system!

Holly and I walked up and down the beach together which was really nice.  Dad and the rest played games in the water and when they got to cold for that came out and made a pretty extensive sand castle!  We buried one of the cousins and had a few snacks and just had a great time.  :)  Everybody got some sun and I would say that it was a success.

You really can't go wrong with beach, sunshine, family and nature.  If I was going to make a commercial about Pure Michigan, this would be it.
