So we got to end our disappointing week on a high note! I have been looking forward to this visit from my friend Amy (who lives in Seattle) pretty much since I was out there in March. Her husband (Brian) best friend is getting married so they are back in the mitten for about two weeks. I told her that we could pick her up from the airport and then do whatever she wanted! It was going to be awesome.
But, I get ahead of myself. Earlier that day we got two very special visitors from NY. They are literally driving across the country (they have a wedding to attend in California) and are making various pit spots along the way, and visiting with friends. I've only actually talked to Tom a handful of times and I don't think that I've actually ever talked with Tigs in person, beyond the typical capoeira greetings, but we've talked a lot on line and stuff haha. But I told them that they were more than welcomed to stay with us for as long as they wanted if it was on their way and they said they would stop by. Now, I kinda figured that it was going to be one of those they say they will, but then it gets busy and they don't actually do it, but I was so happy to get their message that they were around and had time! :)
We had them over for breakfast before we had to leave to pick up Amy from the airport. I made mini bacon quiche (check pinterest for the recipe! Very yummy!) M n M pancakes (per Dude's request) and then some blueberry danishes (also from Pinterest). It was great to be able to have them over and just hang out. We read, strung up the berimbaus, played with the kids and Dude proudly showed off his toys. He was most excited to show off his Dude cave and the slide that attaches to his bed. :) We only got a few hours with them, but it was nice to be able to hang out with them outside of workshops.

Story time with Tom after breakfast :) |
We told them that they could stay at our place as long as they needed since their road trip was going to continue after this. We went to pick up Amy from the airport and we were so excited! Once we got her we went to my parents so she could shower and then we got some fried chicken. Mmmm! I love fried chicken haha. We joke because we get a lot of junk food together... no judging here! :)

Looking good considering the poor thing had been traveling for 10 hours which includes an overnight flight! |
My parents were gracious enough to watch the kids while we got to have some 'adult' time with Amy. We went out for drinks and just chatted. The nice thing about hanging out with Amy is that it's very relaxed and chill. We could talk for hours and hours, and just be together. We have a lot of real conversations and some not so 'real' ;) Amy is reading 50 Shades of Grey right now and I am next on the list for borrowing her book hahaha.

Hopcat is always delicious |
We do get to see Amy again on this visit. She will be spending the night on Tuesday and then we are driving at the butt crack of dawn out to Brighton for a half marathon. I hope that the weather cools off a bit! We got the kiddos from Mom and Dad's (they were of course, outside helping with the gardening butt naked!). Looking forward to hanging out with Amy a little more during this visit. :)
