Marie Catrib

This post is to remember a fantastic lady and restauranteur.  Its really strange to think that I will miss somebody who I had only been in contact with a handful of times... but obviously those few times made quite an impact.

Last week Marie Catrib passed away.  She had been battling cancer for a few years so it wasn't unexpected... yet it was.  I watch a lot of cooking shows, and would consider myself a foodie, and the judges/professionals/critics would always say you could tell when chefs put their heart and love in their food... and with Marie's food I could tell.  Before I even met her at her cute deli I could tell that this woman was passionate about her food and about people.  As soon as you walked through her doors you were family, be it your first time or your 100th.  And if her smile didn't warm your heart her hugs did.  I have never seen a woman love on so many babies.  Her restaurant was ALWAYS busy, yet she found the time to make sure you felt welcomed and, in our case, love on our young ones.

I know that she has impacted many many people through her smiles, laughter and food.  We will miss you Marie, but we know that you are still with us everytime we eat delicious food.  Thank you for sharing your passion and love with this world.  It is a better place because of it.
