Grace's cottage

Saturday was our trip up to Pierson to Grace's parents cottage.  We usually see them at least twice a year, once during Memorial Weekend to put in the Dock and once during Labor Day to take it back out.  I think it's funny because we don't really see Grace that much during the year, but when we hang out it seems like we hang out all the time.  It's nice that we can do that and have a good time :)  I think it shows that even though we don't get to see each other that much how good of friends we are because we can hang out.

Unfortunately, when we got there the kids had to stay in the car because they had been naughty during the day time before.  I couldn't tell them that if they didn't behave then we weren't going, because I didn't want to punish us too... I was looking forward to going! so for as long as they were misbehaving they had to stay in the car when we got there.  Lucy didn't sleep on the whole ride up which I was impressed with... a little concerned that she was going to crab out, but impressed that she stayed awake the whole time.  She is getting to be our little traveler as well.

This was the first time in years (ever since we started going) that it didn't rain!  There wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was beautiful.  There were even times where it was a bit chilly, but we couldn't have asked for better weather.  Of course the kids went into the lake despite the fact that it was pretty cold, but they loved it.  They played hard while the guys put the dock in.  Dude actually helped with it and it was very endearing to see him with the 'big boys' :)

Bringing things to Grace's Dad

Lucy snugged on Grace's Mom and I think melted her heart.  Rick told Gaetan that he liked this 'renting Grandchildren' thing.  They do a great job with it too :)  They got Norah this adorable outfit with burp clothes (and let me tell you you can ever have enough burp clothes!) and then they got the kids water toys... she is a smart woman because she got them the exact same thing.  Lucy loves anything Dude has and if they have the exact same thing then there won't be fights (theoretically).  :)

They did try to fly a kite which was a nice idea, but by the time they got the strings out and ready to go the wind died down... but the kids were excited to see the kite out anyway, even if it didn't fly.  Maybe next time!

Lucy did however fall asleep on the way to my parents house... no nap, hard playing outside and in the water and a longer car ride meant she was going to sleep.  I was exhausted by the end of the day but we had a lot of fun.  I actually think that we might've left Lucy's cup up there... so that means we're just going to have to go up there again!  Darn... ;)
