Last Thursday I drove out to the east side of the state to hang out with a friend who just had knee surgery. He had an appointment early in the morning so I told him I would take him to it... which meant I was out the door before 6:30 am! Unfortunately for Gaetan the kids had woken up before my alarm, so their day had already started too! Oof! But, the drive time by myself was good and I made it... and in long trips like this it makes me thankful for our new van! We found out that we can play our iPods in it, which is really nice! I pretty much needed a Momma day away so this way I could listen to bad music without fear of ruining the kids! haha.
The appointment went all right. He can't walk on it for another three weeks :( but it seems to be healing nicely. We went out to breakfast afterwards with another couple friend which was really nice to catch up. We seriously sat in the breakfast place for a couple of hours just chatting about life, jobs, marriage, kids... all the good stuff :) Then, Gato and I went back to their place to get some stuff done. He had to do a bit of work, and I thought that I would help out and clean up a little. I know that its hard to be immobile, but I also know that its hard on the rest of the people there because they have to pick up the extra slack! So, we cleaned up a bit and chatted some more.
I made a quick run to IKEA because our neighbors moved and they left us this kid sized table and chair. And, well, when you have two kids and one chair it tends to cause problems... And this way he could get a little bit of work done and I was waiting for Ratty to get home from work to we could chat a bit before I left. I was going to check out this really cool cloth diaper place near Ann Arbor but ran out of time... so we will just have to go there again sometime soon! :) It was really good to catch with them and just hang out. I know that we used to do it a lot more when we lived closer together, and I definitely needed the time out so it was a win-win.

The chairs and table. Dude was excited that I got a third chair for Norah he says. :) |
I had a dress rehearsal for our concert this Saturday which is why I had to leave, and I thought that I had left with plenty of time so that I could see the kids before I had to go and get some dinner but then I ran into traffic, and an accident, and stupid drivers... so the drive took a bit longer than anticipated. But I did get home in time and we ended up going out to eat for a quick dinner before the dress rehearsal. I missed the kids a lot while I was out and about... and I know it sounds crazy because I was out because I needed a break, but I really do miss them. Apparently, Lucy wasn't thrilled that I wasn't there so when I pulled up and she saw me she came running... so excited that she forgot about the end of the side walk and completely biffed it! :( Skinned the side of her poor nose right off. Poor sweet girly. We did get some delicious dinner, Olive Garden per Dude's request, and then I was off to rehearsal.

On the way to rehearsal Dude was asking if he could go in and watch. I told him that was up to Papa because I didn't know how tired they were or if they were going to behave. Well, let me tell you, they were as good as gold! I couldn't believe how good they were... and I know how good they can be! Lucy fell asleep, which was probably good and Dude just sat there and watched the entire time. I was very proud of him! He was really excited about being able to see what I did when I went to orchestra too. He keeps talking about it at home. :) He was waving his arms in the air like he was conducting... it was very cute to see.

After that I was tired. It had been a long but good day. The kids were exhausted I know, and really, it was just the beginning of a crazy busy weekend! :) More on that to follow.
