KPhil

Well, I've now completed two full rehearsals at KPhil and they aren't getting any easier!  haha.  I did, however, find out that there was an email list that our conductor sends out saying which part of the pieces we're going to rehearse, which was a BIG help.  Even though there are only two songs they are LONG songs.  I think the Beethoven song is about 45 minutes and the Nielson is about 40.  So... to try and cover all the parts of the pieces week to week, is definitely more time than I have to commit to it.

I did get some practicing in today while Gaetan took the kids grocery shopping.  It was wonderful.  I got a lot rehearsed and I don't have such a huge feeling of dread in my stomach about looking like a fool at rehearsal.  Most of the time the parts that we rehearse I think to myself, "If I only knew this is what we were doing I could've looked at it."  Then I wouldn't be sight reading at the rehearsal!

My stand partner is an older lady from Germany.  She's SUPER nice, but she's kinda out of control.  She doesn't really count very well, so she's just all over the place.  So, that makes playing a bit harder because she's off doing her own thing when you're trying to battle her and do the right thing.  She is also a talker... and I don't want to seem rude, but I don't want to hear every little comment you have about the piece.  She very clearly HATES the Nielson, because it's very challenging and not very well known... but I don't wanna hear about it.  I'm not such a huge fan of it either, but I think we'll live.

Looking forward to getting back into the swing of being apart of a serious orchestra and whipping these fingers back into shape!
