This week has been a bit busier than our usual schedule. Yes yes I know our normal schedule isn't that strenuous or demanding, but this week poor Gaetan had lots of things to do! He had two homework assignments due, and to those of us who think, "that shouldn't be to difficult." Well, think again. I've seen his homework and when one part of a problem takes up 7 pages, they aren't messing around. AND when you look at the paper and see nothing but symbols and no numbers, you think they gotta mean business. On top of that, his advisor is in France so he asked him to cover one of his classes. It's an upper level class, so it was impressive that he even asked him to cover it for him. Pile on he's got his first exam in E & M tomorrow, so he's been a busy guy!
Which means I've had the kids for longer days, which has been really nice. :) It's nice having that much time with them, but don't get me wrong, I like it when Gaetan comes home. It's been fantastic also because second tri has been treating me so well. Smells are still a bit of a touchy thing, but nothing like it was before. I feel GREAT. I actually don't feel pregnant, which is kind of a strange feeling, but that also means I'm not feeling sick or really tired. Our kids are crazy. They say the most interesting things.
Some of Dude's latest:
As we were driving Gaetan to school he kept telling us that they had spelled Kai wrong. Kai is his friend that he met at church who they are seeming to become pretty good friends. We kept asking them who 'they' were and he pointed out of the window. He was pointing to the KIA dealership. I thought that was pretty clever.
Then, he told me that Lucy had two X's and that he only had one X but then he had a Y. I figured he was talking letters and alphabet stuff, because when you don't know what he's talking about, that's a safe bet. But he said, "No Momma. It's because Lucy is a girl and I'm a boy." Chromosomes. Really kid? Impressive.
Lucy is learning the alphabet now too. Dude helps her with the sounds and they practice together all the time. They love to hold hands and walk together, which is probably one of the cutest things you will ever see. She is mimic-ing a lot of words and sounds now too, and she thinks its great she can join in on the fun. It's great seeing the gears turning and how excited she is that she can do what big brother is doing.
Also, I am super impressed and amazed at the things my kids will eat! Like tonight they horked down so much hummus, and curry it was astonishing! I feel like most kids, especially younger ones like that wouldn't go near it. But, it might help that if they're not into it I make them try just a taste before they dismiss it. They loved that butternut squash bisque too, which I feel like is a pretty grown up taste. I'm glad that they're not just about mac n cheese, chicken tenders and hot dogs. Makes my life easier and I like making real food!
I am looking forward to the end of the week, and I know that Gaetan is. He's an amazing individual.
