Adventures with Ratty

In the morning time we went to the farmer's market here because I wanted to get some more butternut squash to make that bisque this week.  I was really really excited about it... and last week Gaetan didn't get to go to the market, so we went again.  I went to the usual stand that I go to and their product didn't look very big and it was pretty pricey... so we walked around a bit.  We found a vendor that was selling some pretty substantial looking squash for really cheap!  So we got two of them for $2!  Score!

Then we drove out to the east side of the state for Baz's Monthly Open Roda.  Usually our plan is to drive out during the afternoon, because that's the kids nap time... and let's be real, that's the only way Lucy would tolerate being in the car for 2 hours.  But, that usually puts us there way earlier than the roda is, so lucky for us, that means we get to see our faves!

The beginning of our travels while she was still awake.  She likes her hat, and was being silly with it.
We got there this time and the kids were so excited to see Gato and Ratty (as Dude calls them).  We hung out for a bit, and then realized that I was hungry, so we went to this cute little deli and got sandwiches, per my request.  I'm not quite sure why but I am craving deli sandwiches and soup... oh well.  After that we went back to their place for a little bit before the boys headed out to the roda.

This is what the future looks like for them haha

On our walk to the deli... Dude and Gato walking together.  :)
I was really hoping to give Gaetan a chance to be childless for a few hours.  Not that he asked for it, but there is something to be said to for not having to have half of your attention always looking for a child, or wondering if they could be getting into when there is silence.  So Ratty and I stayed at their house with the kids and played and hung out.  Dude was playing this puzzle game on her iPad and was really good at it.  She helped him through it, but he got the last few moves on his own... he was doing really well!

At the pizza place after the roda celebrating Tig's birthday!  Pumpkin cake with Dude's old 3 year old candle on it haha
We figured that the boys were going to be out kinda late because after the roda the group usually goes out to eat and hangs out.  This time they were going to for sure because we had visitors from Rochester, and there were lots of October birthdays.  So... Ratty and I decided to 'adventure' AKA run some errands, with the kids.

First stop. Lowes.  They were replacing some of their electrical outlets and sockets and stuff, and Lowes has these fabulous carts that the kids love to ride in.  Ratty and all her unusual talent is a master at driving these types of things... wheelchairs, large strollers, ridiculous sized carts... just a talent.  The kids had a lot of fun doing donuts with her in the store while we tried to find what we needed.  I tried to do the same, but mine wasn't as intentional as hers... those carts don't go straight!

She knows how to have a good time with the kids!
After that we went to Meijer to gather some necessary ingredients for the rest of the night/morning.  The kids always love Meijer :)  We got things for breakfast, and for making fun snacks that night.  We ended up making banana chips (that weren't ready til the morning because we had to dehydrate them all night, but they were yummy!) and rice pudding.  We also got this really yummy ginger ale too.

After that we went back to their place and the kids watched some Dinosaur Train.  I tried a few times to get Lucy to go to sleep, but she wasn't about that.  She was really tired, but she would only lay down if I was with her, and it was taking quite some time for her to fall asleep... so she stayed up.  The kids didn't go to sleep til the boys got home which was 12:30!  Yikes!  All was well though.

We did some other random things there, but it was a lot of fun just hanging out and talking.  The kids love being there and hanging out because they have such interesting things to get into!  haha.  Morning was kind of whirl wind because despite the fact they went to bed 5 hours after they usually do, they still got up at the same time.  We got breakfast going, eaten and then we had to pretty much pack up and go because they had stuff to do and we were meeting up with friends at a Cider Mill.  So, it was a pretty packed weekend, but lots of fun and always always a good time seeing them.  :)
