As I blogged before the beginning of the week had been a little rough. Thursday morning Tristan woke up at 6:24... which is about 2 or so hours earlier then he usually does! I was a little nervous about that because this is also one of Gaetan's 11 hour days... and sometimes its hard to fill that day when he gets up at 8:30 or 9! So my first thought was, 'What am I going to do with him all day?'
Well, since he had gotten up so early we got ready while Papa got ready for work and we drove him there so I could have a vehicle. He was generally pretty good with having me around. I was worried that when Gaetan got out of the car he would be upset, but he didn't seem to mind. We did a few errands in the morning and I was all set for him not taking a nap, like he had done previously in the week. Then, he fell asleep in the car on the ride home just minutes before we got there.
I tried to get him upstairs as quickly and quietly as possible but he woke up and then seemed wide awake. We still laid down, because it was about nap time. I realized then that we were having a battle of wills between Momma and Bugga... that he in fact did want to take a nap, but he just wanted to see who would win out. Well, I did. :) And he took a gloriously long nap. I kinda feel like this whole week has been to see what he can get away with if he persistently does what he wants... and as the Momma I couldn't be letting that happen. As soon as I recognized what he was doing, it made things easier.
We then got up and had some lunch and realized that it was happy hour at Steak n Shake so we got some shakes and brought one to Papa at work. :) It was nice to see him in the middle of his long day and I'm sure he liked the tasty treat. We then walked to the downtown library, which is a couple of blocks. That's a long way for a little duder! We spent about 2.5 hours there, in which we read half a book. There were some puzzles and toys that he really enjoyed, and then some other kids came too that he played with. We were going to go to the children's museum, but he was so into being at the library we just stayed there until we had to pick Gaetan up from work.
The day went marvelously better than I had anticipated and I was very grateful for that. Gaetan said that he had been praying hard for me at work, and there were a handful of the students that he's gotten to know pretty well praying for me too! It was felt and much appreciated.
